Wicca Workshop
BASIC WICCA INTRODUCTION->Part 5 Mixing Wicca With Other Religions
Although the "dilution" of Wicca with other religions is generally frowned upon by the Wiccan community at large, I believe that a person's religion is a personal and private thing and that it should consist of whatever the practitioner believes in. Here I will provide some information regarding some of the already constructed Wiccan subgroups. If I know of a link or mailing list, I will provide it.
Christian Wiccans
Christians who want to put the Goddess back in Christianity.
There are a few mailing lists and a websites for this subgroup. I hear that they are working on a book to be published called "Christian Wicca" and another called "Christian Goddesses" or close to that. The Mailing list can be found at onelist and is called "GoddessChristians" and the website is http://www.christiangoddess.com
A second list is smaller and also on onelist called ChristianWicca. There are also others on onelist but they have a smaller membership.
Native American Wiccans
This is very similar to Shamanistic Wiccans in that this subgroup uses methods, ideas, and dieties that the Native Americans use. Smudging, sweat lodge, and other activities are practiced.
Shamanistic Wiccans
Shamanistic Wiccans may also practice Native American ways, but one can also be Celtic Shamanic, or other parthenons, and still be a Shamanic Wiccan. Circle Sanctuary is supposed to be a Shamanic Wicca site.
Druid Wiccans
According to Isaac Bonewits on his video "Druidism for the New Age", 80% of current Druids are Wiccan. The ideas are similar and the holidays are the same. The only difference that I can see is Druidism is much more structured than Wicca (with groves and subgroves being carefully tracked).
Jewish Wiccans
I have not heard of any specifically Jewish Wiccans, though I suppose it's possible. I do know that there is a sect of Jewish Druids called "Druish" but I don't know much more about them.
A Jewish Wiccan might be more apt to be a Jewish Magician than a Wiccan. (Sumerian/ Canaanite)
There is information about a Jewish pagan mailing list here.
Hindu Wiccans
As far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) the Hindu religion serves an entire parthenon of Gods and Goddesses on it's own and is "pagan" by our definition in Lesson 1.
Buddist Wiccans
As far as I know (again, correct me if I'm wrong), Buddism is a philosophy, not really a religion, and I do believe it's possible to combine the two.
Muslim Wiccans
I am not aware of any muslim wiccan or pagan groups.
Did I miss anyone?
