What is Wicca?

FAQ last updated:7 Nov 2004

What is Wicca? (7 Nov 2004)

Wicca is a Nature based pagan religion (pagan meaning not christian, muslim or jewish) that worships both a God and a Goddess, usually personified by the Sun and Moon. Wiccans have a schedule of holidays dictated by the Sun and Moon, the sun festivals being Samhain (Soe-een), October 31, the celtic new year; February 2, Imbolc or groundhog day; 30 April, Beltane (Bell-tawn-ya), and August 1, Lammas or Lughnasadah. Also celebrated as minor holidays are the Spring and Vernal Equinoxes and the winter and summer solstices. (Dec 21, Mar 21, June 21, and September 21, approximately) The full moons (13 a year) and sometimes the new moon are celebrated too.

Are you Wiccan? (7 Nov 2004)

Not exactly. I grew up Roman Catholic, finding Wicca when I was around 13. I studied Wicca for about 10 years. When I joined the Air Force, got married and moved to Japan, I found a group of Wiccans to practice with. (You can, btw, practice alone, which I had done before that, but it's much more fun with others.) So, I practiced with these wiccans for about a year, we'd have rituals at each others houses, with dinner and games sometimes. When I left Japan, I stopped practicing. It just wasn't as much fun alone. My ideas changed since then, and I don't believe as heavily in Wicca as I once did. My current beliefs revolve around each person being a part of god/goddess/a higher power, each person being in charge of his or her own life. Spells and rituals just don't get the job done like going out and getting dirty. You can cast a spell for a job, but you'd have much better luck if you go out and apply for a dozen jobs. I'm still proud of all these songs, chants, rituals, prayers, etc. that I have written and I wanted to make them available to those who do practice.

(The rest of this FAQ came directly from the old FAQ I used to have on my wiccan page.)

Will you do a spell to make so-in-so notice/love/make love to me?

No. I don't do spells for other people. You're in charge of your own life, you're the one that wants ... you would be the better choice to do the spell. Of course, always remember that wiccans do _not_ make people do things. Everyone has their own free will, and it's not up to another to make up their mind for them. Try doing a spell for love (misc. love, not love of a specific person), and see what happens.

Do you have a love spell I could use?
Will you write me a love spell?

No. I don't do spells and I especially won't write a spell for another person. I'm mostly interested in the religious side of wicca. Spells for me are creative visualization. I suggest looking into ceremonial magick or the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn for magick. The best spells are written by the one who needs them. I'd also suggest "Real Magick" by Isaac Bonewits.

I'm new to wicca,
do you have any advice?
could you send me any info?

Wicca does not recruit. If you've found wicca, and it suits your needs, good. All the info I currently have is on this webpage. Please search www.yahoo.com or www.infoseek.com for further information.

Do your songs have tunes in midi or wav file?

Not yet. Unfortunately, I'm a budding song writer. The tunes I have are all in my head, and I haven't gotton around to learning how to write them down. My problem is I don't know the notes, what they sound like, etc. I'm working on it, but I'm also going to school and working. I can't guarantee that they'll ever be any tunes to go with these songs on these webpages. If you like a certain song, and think you know how the tune would go, then by all means sing it, however, only in your personal circles, nothing for profit.

I was wondering how do you write spells?

You write a spell by having a longing for something. You do a ritual or action to help it come about. It's all a matter of sympathetic magick mostly. See Buckand's Complete Book of Witchcraft for more.
Do u know a certain special language?

There are special magickal languages such as Angelic, and others. I personally, don't study much of the magickal side of things. See Buckland's book mentioned above for more.

Do you have to be a special person?

Everyone is special.

Must you study for years and years and have strong mental control powers?

Depends what you're trying to do.

How can people write their own spells?

It's a matter of will, pen, paper, and knowledge. Nothing special.

Don't you read from ancient peoples books?

If I could find one I would.
