A Parable

A lawyer dies and crosses over. He is greeted by two angels who help him to get adjusted. Once he figures out what he can and cannot do here, he realizes that he can access information about his past life, and so he asks his angels about it. Both of the angels look quietly at each other for a moment. The man, sensing this, asks them,

"What's the matter? All I want to do is to understand more about my most recent lifetime. I thought this was a pretty standard request." he said. "Yes, of course it is my dear" replied one of the angels "But..are you sure you are ready to learn the truth?".

"YES! I want to know the truth! I was a fantastic lawyer!! Please let me review this!" he pleaded almost demandingly. "Very well, then" said one of the angels.

As the man watched the review of his life, he was able to see and feel how his life effected others. When he was done with the review, the angels waited patiently for the next request.

"Umm, angels?" he asked quietly. "Yes", they replied.

"Do you have a place I can go to..to..umm..reflect on my own for a while?" he asked. "Yes, of course..and before you ask, yes you may stay there as long as you like". "Good," he answered "because I think if I show my face around Heaven any time soon, there are some very angry souls looking to exact some return Karma upon me!".

The angels very graciously showed the man to his quiet "retreat" area and left him there to think for several days. When they returned, they asked "How are you feeling today?". "Well, not so good, but thank you both for allowing me to come here!". They smiled brightly and offered him some delicious food that they had brought for him. He was very greatful and hugged them before they left.

They returned a few days later, but this time they brought beautiful bouquets of flowers to brighten up his quarters. Again they asked him how he was doing. "Quite well, thank you. I have started to forgive myself of all the terrible things I did to some people in my lifetime" he answered. "That is wonderful!" they replied.

The man was extremely greatful for these two angels. Before they left, the three of them shared a few good laughs and simply enjoyed each other's presence. The man said that he should like them to visit sooner next time..which he hoped would be the last day in his retreat.

So, the very next day the two angels came back again. This time they brought gifts of beautiful gems and rocks that the three of them placed carefully around the waterfall that existed near his quarters. The man could not contain his happiness that he had met two such lovely souls. The angels then asked him if he wanted to talk. The man quietly bowed his head and said "I hurt alot of people in my life, but there were two people I hurt the most. I allowed two separate people to be prosecuted and then receive the death penalty when I knew the people to be innocent. I shall never forgive myself for that". The angels then smiled very warmly and hugged him very, very tightly. Slowly the man began to feel better, but he then said "I suppose I should seek those two souls and ask for their forgiveness and face their wrath."

The two angels then looked at him with an all-encompassing look of LOVE. They then hugged him even tighter this time. "You've already found them, my friend, and we forgive you and love you very much. We hope you finally see the love in our connection. Now, let's go introduce you to the rest of your friends and loved ones..they have been waiting anxiously for you to arrive!."
