Standing Stone
Ancient Tower, Standing stone
In this field all alone
How long have you stood on high
Through drought, fire and waters high?
How many moons have you seen?
How many harvests, full and lean?
How many ancient peoples have past you in your rest?
To how many nations can you attest?
Standing Stone, oh ancient tower
From the earth you channel power
To the ancient circle of stone
Yet now you stand here all alone
Where did your brethren go?
Will we ever seek to know?
Will we ever get the sight?
To see the timeless power of your might?
The Food Drive Walk
In Celtic countries, it was custom on certain holidays for the children of villages to walk door to door asking for treats. This is a modern version of such, created for those who would like to help those not so fortunate.
Dear Sir or Ma'am I bid you please
Have you any food to spare?
We're collecting for the homeless ones
With whom this earth we share
Food, food for the homeless ones
Whatever you can find
A can of this, a box of that
Or anything you're inclined
Those who say "I cannot give"
Next time it may be you
If that happens you'll regret
And learn humility too
So if you have some food to spare
We'll open up our sack
We'll put it in and smile big
And not 'till next year come back
So great blessings on those who give
And gremlins on those who won't
We're collecting food that you have
To give to those who don't!
The Four Kings
There were once, and still are now
Four great and shining kings
Their kingdoms land is wide and vast
They have wisdom of all things
The First King came from far to the east
He uses his wind for love and peace
He helps you keep cool in the heat of day
And carries pain and hurt away
The next king came from deep in the south
He has a tongue of fire in his mouth
He'll warm you when a chill you get
And dry you quick when you're wet
The 3rd king came from far to the west
He rode a wall of water with power and zest
He'll wash you clean and keep you strong
And with his help you'll do no wrong
The last king cam from the cold, cold north
With stone and earth you bring him forth
He's the source of food and fertility
And quite often does he teach humility
So these four kings are tall and grand
With you they will make a stand
They'll help you with your magic spell
And secrets they know to you tell
Chorus:
Four Kings--Standing Proud
Four Kings--Sing it out loud
Each to help you live and learn
When for knowledge do you burn
The Fairy Folk
In these woods, the fairy fold
Will soon come to play
Their little feet will dance and twirl
A'fore the break of day
These fairy folk, you might know
Stand only to your knee
Yet don't you judge their strength by size
For they life eternally
Chorus:
Sing to fairy folk, Sing of love and joy
Sing to the people wee
Show your kindness in your words
And they'll follow you faithfully
The fairy folk will celebrate
In this quiet glen
They'll sneak right in and dance and feast
And then sneak out again
These fairy folk, you will see
Have active, curious minds
But be careful what you say
Your words to you they bind
As I walk now through this field
Quite near me do I see
A curious young fairy folk
A squatting on his knee
"Hello there" I whisper now
He looks and has a start
And before I could catch him
He did hurriedly depart!
Hail Mighty Celtia
In ancient times it has been told
Her children have been blessed
From Bard's tales and Druid song
We hear of wars and conquest
Chorus:
Hail Mighty Celtia
Hail to faeryland
Praise to Mighty Celtia
Praise to Ireland!
The Celts they were a mighty race
Both handsome, brave and strong
They gave Rome a mighty shove
To prove they were headstrong
Hail to the Ancient Druid
Hail to his fiery Quest
In our search for knowledge and magic
May we be so blessed!
Hail Falias, Home of the Mighty Stone
The source of Kingly Power
Yet still in Great Britain
You are the Royal anointer
Hail Mighty Celtia
Hail to the Faery Mound
Praise to Mighty Celtia
For with you peace I've found
Song of Heroes
Chorus:
Hear this song of joy and grace
Of Great Heroes young and old
From ancient times to present times
They were both strong and bold
In Ireland the ancient heroes
Have longs since been at rest
But in their time, and in their day
At war they were the best
In ancient times these warrior men
Would fight both tooth and nail
For strength in arms or property
Or pride and no avail
Get ye then a Celtic book
With heroes of long ago
Who fought with skill and bravery
With sword and spear and bow
Our heroes now, of today
Are different than the rest
But for pagan love and pagan life
They do their very best
In the background, you may have others sing the following:
Dana, Lir, the Morrigan
And Aine of the fey
Amergin and Agnus Og
Fergus and Kimbay
Skatha, Aifa, Connola
Warriors who have no ilk
They fought and love
For their food and milk
Ian Corrigan and Selena Fox
Gardner and Buckland
With their love and guidance
We'll not break but bend
Merlyn
Merlyn, Master of the stars
And guardian of the trees
Powerful Druid of the past
In your cave by the sea
Chorus:
Merlyn, I call your thought
Into my home and life
By oak, ash, and mistletoe
By chalice and by knife
Merlyn, master of magicks
And powers of time and space
I call you not to sing with me
And touch your weathered face
Merlyn, o' wizened Bard
Quicken my mortal mind
Let me write with powerful words
And inspiration find
Merlyn, master of the sky
And of the earthly plane
Teach me of the faerie realm
And secrets of the flame
Merlyn, Druid of the trees
The last to know the secret
I see your ancient knowledge
In few that I have met
So, Great Merlyn, come, I gently bid thee now
And enter my sacred space
Teach me where, what, why and how
And teach me of your race
The Mists of Avalon
(Italicized verses to be sung softly in high notes)
Chorus:
Through the Mists of Avalon
I've traveled far and wide
Through ancient glades and faery mounds
And caves upon the seaside
I met Arthur as a boy
And once again as a man
I saw him learn and grow
And help his fellow man
A noble man, Arthur was
And strong and kind of heart
He ruled with a mighty fist
Until he did depart
His sword was bright
The blade was strong
Hail, Arthur,
to be king lifelong
I met Merlyn when I was young
Having no idea to whom I spoke
Yeah, Merlyn, though, he knew me
And of my kinfolk
I followed Merlyn far and wide
Or where he would allow
I'd write songs of his glorious deeds
His power I will avow
His magick was strong
His head in a hood
He used his power
For our own good
I met Excalibur when I was a man
And it's blade was strong and true
Little did I know the songs I wrote
Would with it magick imbue
Excalibur, she was a mighty blade
Of steel and cold as ice
Upon its strong and lovely blade
Many men had paid the ultimate price
A mighty blade, forged in steel
Where is your resting place?
Will you rise from the water
When a new King is worthy of Arthur's place?
I met Mordred, but he was dead
A spear stuck through his throat
His fetid smell did shun me away
As he began to rot and bloat
On that vicious battle ground
I searched for those I knew
But death and dying were all I saw
And the ravens overhead flew
Mighty warriors, take your leave
You've done your very best
Let no ghosts linger here
But go on to your rest
The Bard's Lament
Long have I traveled
And long have I sang
My harp I have strummed
And my drum I have banged
I gather stories and songs to sing
Of knights and cowards, peasants and kings
So for some bread, meat and ale
I'll tell you songs that ne'er fail
And for some sweet smelling soup
I'll tell you tales of war and coups
And when my final songs is past
I'll leave your town or village fast
Ode to Amergin
Oh, Amergin, wizened Bard
Have you a tale for me
Of heroes, clans and warriors
Of things I cannot yet see
Amergin, I sing this tune
To learn of words and song
And find with you the inspiration
To write both well and long
Amergin, I've read your words
Of sun and moon and sea
Of the Stag of seven tines
And the hill of poetry
Inspire me, O Amergin
And create songs from my tears
Bind me to my very words
Now and for many years
Robin Hood
Sir Robin Hood and His merry men
For the poor did fight
From the sheriff they did steal
In the woods at night
With quiet stealth they did espy
The victim of their quest
Stole from those with moneybags
And those who were richly dressed
Chorus:
Robin Hood, knave of yore
Good tidings did you send
And ever since we've kept for you
A place in our legend
One summer day, Robin Hood
Met up with Friar Tuck
Who joined the unruly merry men
And blessed his then good luck
And Marion, she did steal too
But only Robin's Heart
And he swore in his braggart way
The two would never part
Creation
In the beginning, the Goddess was alone
The Universe was silent, dark, barren and cold
She created a sphere of light and energy
Breathed upon it and it burst in a shower of suns, stars, planets and Moons
For only Her to see
She wept for loneliness when she saw this wondrous sight
From Her very tears, the God sprang with power and with might
And the Goddess, laughed for joy
They danced around the spinning spheres
Small enough to seem like toys
They decided to create more life
Together, they sprinkled the universe with all types
And life lived, grew, and adapted to everything it touched
Life flourished as the Lord and Lady watched
They watched then, they watch now, and help where they may
With their power and light, may they always guide our way
Ode to the Little People
Hobbit, fairy, Elfin King
Hear this song, to you I sing
Elfin Lady, Fairy stone
Are these pretty woods your home?
Do you wander long and free?
Do you hear this song from me?
Pixies, Nymphs and Elfin Lords
Hear this song, these very words
Mamma's, Papa's and baby's too
I send now good health to you
Dear Madam or sir--whichever applies
Do not fear this human guise
Little Ladies and Little Men
My song will soon come to an end
Hear the words now from my song
May none harm you or do you wrong
In your travels remember me
And in my dreams I'll remember thee
The Unicorn
The unicorn is a wondrous beast
Bold, handsone brave and stron
And upon its proud gentle head
It has a single spiral horn
Chorus:
Oh mighty beast, O unicorn
Fill me with your light
And grant that I may hear your muse
And keep you in my isght
Oh bold and lovely unicorn
Guide us with your horn
and teach us of the magick realms
into which you have gone
Magick, magick, unicron
Please keep me in your grace
and yould your like I ever see
I'll heartily embrace
Merlyn's Breath
Chorus:
(soft and low; slow and easy)
Merlyn...Merlyn...Merlyn...(repeat)
Lord Merlyn, Master of magick
Keeper of the prophecy
Master of all Druidry
Breathe your knowledge to me
Breathe your wisdom to me
Lord merlyn, Master of Music
Keeper of pluck and strum
Master of the flute and drum
Breathe your talent to me
Lord Merlyn,Master of Story
Keeper of the Mythic time
Master of word and rhyme
Breathe your inspiration to me
Merlyn...Merlyn...Merlyn...(slower, and slower, fade to whisper)
The Ges
A child is borne a joy to all
None would speak of fear or dread
The Druids came to bless the chld
And lay hands upon his head
The Druids spoke, and prophecied
From thier mouth to others spread
Of all the good deeds he would do
Before he lay down finally dead
The final words the Druids said
Were of the blessing ges
Small instructions for all to know
To make his life its best
The words, the warning, whispered round
Among the people there
Telling them what not to do
And they followed it with care
When the child grew up strong
They told him of his ges
He vowed to keep it faithfully
Until his final rest
Death Journey
The goddess called me one fine day
The goddess called me strong
She told me I was a fine pagan
But my journey was still long
Chorus:
Forward then, forward then
To the future I will go
Forward then, forward then
I still have more to grow
I gave the goddess a mighty bow
And rode out to face my life
Many things I had yet to learn
Not done yet with pain and stife
I rode through the famous fields
Of battles of the past
I comforted the ghosts of men
Who there had breathed their last
I rode on then to cities bare
And helped wipe away the tears
I visited the lost and sick
And comforted their fear
Death is not an end I said
But the start of a new path
Fear not the darkest angel there
For he has no hate or wrath
chorus 2:
Fear not death, fear not death
He is but a dark shadow
fear not death, fear not death
Fear would be hollow
Accept him then for what he is
The door to a new journey
Only when you accept what death is
Will you truly be free
Witches' Bell
She was in the valley tending sheep
When they send the soldiers there
They tore up her little house
and set fire to her hair
She had no recourse of the law
A witch she was they said
Though never had she touched an herb
Nor bothered with the dead
She prayed to the god of the men
But no answer did she get
So she prayed silently to the moon
And in her cell she wept
Then in the light of day
They searched her tiny cell
Her body was there, but she was gone
Called by the witches' bell
Death Angel
The death angel passed
I know not his name or voice
He passed just by me now
Without a word or noise
I've seen his touch some nights
In the spirits of the dead
They still try to live
But they look as ghosts instead
chorus:
The dark angel
Spirit of unknown
What secrets do you hold
What do you condone
Darkness falls, you see him walk
Among the houses there
When you finally feel his touch
He will dispel the fear |
